Plastic
window maintenance is easy if you follow a few simple rules. Do
not use any abrasive cleaners, household spray wax or solvent
based cleaners. Extremely dirty windows should be gently washed
with lukewarm water and a soft cotton towel.
Caution:
Plastic
windows react adversely to some liquids commonly used around race
cars. Liquid thread lockers are especially bad. Acetone, MEK or
other strong solvents dissolve both acrylic and polycarbonate.
Do
not use cleaners that contain ammonia!
Spektr
Products also does not recommend Rain-X® or similar products
for use on polycarbonate windshields, and windshield wiper use
causes no harm to the windshields as long as the windshields are
clean and the wiper is not allowed to run "dry", "squeak"
or "chatter".
